Course Overview and Objective

Based on the findings from the CUHK Corporate Innovation Index (CII) (https://exed.bschool.cuhk.edu.hk/corporate-innovation-index/ and industry experience, participants will be empowered with the knowledge and skills to emulate the best practices of innovative companies, ensuring their survival, resilience, and growth during uncertain times.

Participants will leave with an innovative mindset and proven skillset for understanding and implementing innovative practices that ensure survival, resilience, and growth, particularly in uncertain times. They will also benefit from insights gained through benchmarking their practices against the CII and learn to embrace entrepreneurship and open innovation.

Expected Outcomes:

 

By the end of the course, participants will:

  1. Grasp Key Innovation Traits: Gain a thorough understanding of the key traits that make companies innovative and successful through the results from the CUHK Corporate Innovation Index (CII), academic research, and industry experience.
  2. Practice Ambidextrous Leadership: Empower both sales and innovation teams to resolve the tension between meeting sales targets and innovating for growth.
  3. Embrace Entrepreneurial, Open and Collaborative Culture: Cultivate an entrepreneurial, open innovation, and collaborative mindset to drive innovation for survival and sustainable growth.
  4. Build Organizational Resilience and Manage Uncertainty: Learn and apply innovation strategies to enhance resilience within their organizations, and develop the skills and mindset to thrive in uncertain and volatile environments.
  5. Innovate with AI and Data: Cultivate AI and data mindset and skillset to innovate new business models and solve business problems.

Module 2: Managing the Conflicts between Sales and Innovation

– Lead ambidextrously to align interests between sales and innovation

– Managing change in innovation and uncertain times

– Defining innovation portfolio for short-term and long-term goals

– Exploring ambidextrous leadership from the CII participating companies

 

Module 3: Embracing Entrepreneurial, Open and Collaborative Culture

– Cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset

– Identifying and seizing entrepreneurial opportunities

– Collaborating with external partners and leveraging external ideas

– Learning entrepreneurship and experimentation culture from the CII results

– Understanding organizational resilience

– Upskilling AI and Data Literacy across entire organization

– Exploiting Generative AI for future innovation and business growth

– Exploring AI strategy of the CII participating companies
