Impact Of Global Trade Barriers On The Economy: Strategic Decision Making Across Countries
(Video in Putonghua only)
In recent years, China has played an increasingly important role in the international economic arena. Many Chinese companies set their strategic vision from the domestic market to the global market. As the competition between Chinese companies and Western multinational companies moves from the Chinese market to the global market, what kind of global perspective and strategic vision should Chinese entrepreneurs have? In this seminar, Professor Vernon Hsu of the CUHK Business School will share the results of his recent research on global supply chain strategies under trade barriers. Professor Hsu pointed out that with the rise of protectionism in recent years, more and more multinational companies are aware of the significant impact of the international trade environment (such as income tax, tariffs and other trade policies of a government) on their global supply chain strategy. The seminar will focus on the opportunities and challenges brought by the international tax system (including the possible impact of the Trump administration ’s trade and tax policies on international trade and globalization) to the global supply chain strategies of multinational companies.
