For customers, when transactions are completed on a mobile app instead of in a branch, its cost can be dramatically lowered. For Banks, they can generate more revenue from customers who manage their money with a smartphone, tablet, or PC. Mr. Eugene Huang is going to elaborate the roadmap of a digital bank and give examples on how modern technologies are used in your bank life, including digital identity verification, robot advisory, risk management and etc.

Mr. Eugene Huang serves as the General Manager of PingAn Tech. Previously, he was the CTO & COO of OneConnect (a subsidiary of PingAn), who responsible for banking system development and delivery, reg-tech solutions, tech innovation and company tech governance. Before joining Ping An Group, Eugene worked on Wall Street in Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation, and later held positions as the Vice President of Citigroup (USA), Senior Vice President of ICG Department at Citigroup (China) and Head of Global Banking and Markets Technology of HSBC (China).

Eugene has more than 30 years experience of large scale platform development and management. His projects include PingAn OneConnect Bank (virtual bank in Hong Kong), Cambodia RuiLi Bank and etc.

The CUHK FinTech Seminar Series is co-organized by the Centre for Financial Engineering (CFE) and the Asia-Pacific Institute of Business (APIB). Industry practitioners are invited to campus to share their areas of expertise.  We see the advantage of bringing together the academia and industry experts, providing a platform to carry out fruitful and productive discussions, encourage the exchange of ideas and promote future collaboration opportunities.  CUHK students may also widen their exposure and receive some enlightenment in their career development.
