About the Survey

Q & A:

Large companies are more concerned about data confidentiality issues:

All participating large companies will be ranked. For companies that rank less than ten, CII will announce the top ten after obtaining the consent of the companies. For companies outside the top ten, the names of the companies will not be disclosed and only the company rankings will be informed one by one. Small and medium-sized enterprises are not ranked and are divided into three stars. Our report to the government will include a full list of companies investigated to demonstrate the strong corporate backing of the CII.

How is the current progress of the innovation project? When will we expect the result to be published?

We are in the first stage “Research and Analysis” – Survey Distribution & Data Collection. Currently the deadline for the submission of the 2nd year of CII questionnaire is on 31st of March 2024. Afterwards an award ceremony will be held in April or May which then you can expect the result to be published and open to public.

Our company is concerned about how to answer questions that ask for examples. It will be quite lengthy and time consuming to explain a full example per question.

Mainly our research team are looking for 1 example of a behaviour, attitude or project done or in progress in your company that shows how your company have been engaged in the activity asked from the question. Simple and concise examples will grant you the mark as we look for keywords that support the statement.

Furthermore, we can provide assistances through zoom where an RA will walk through the questions with you and aid you in filling out the questionnaire.

Is it possible to do an interview to complete the survey instead?/Our company is concerned that some of the questions maybe better explained in person about our answer. Is it possible to do that?

Yes, if there’s any inquiries or explanation needed for questions we are glad to set up a zoom session with you to clarify any uncertainties or explanation for your answers.

Why should we join this innovation questionnaire? What will we get back from this exercise?

This project is the second innovation ranking that was done in Hong Kong. We hope that through this exercise we are able to encourage Hong Kong companies to become more innovative in the digital age and improve Hong Kong economy as a whole. This exercise is also an excellent opportunity for a self-examination and checklist to evaluate the innovativeness of your company!

Top-ranked achievers will be honored at a 2024 award ceremony. Participating companies who have completed the entire study will receive a CII Certificate and the CII company report, acknowledging their contribution to Hong Kong’s innovation. Top achievers can also use the CII logo on their business materials.

For Corporate companies, we look to rank Hong Kong companies in their innovativeness and list out the ranking to the public; for SME, we look to rank them based on “one star”, “two star” or “three star” and the ranking will not be listed out in public.

We will also be giving out awards to the top ranking innovative companies. In addition, we will be holding workshops to help promote and teach companies into how they can become more innovative as a whole.
