Programme Recognition
The programme is designed in accordance with the Hong Kong Qualification Framework Level 6 on the Qualifications Register (QR). Graduates of this programme are eligible to apply for course and unit exemption with reference to the Graduate School’s Policy on Course and Unit Exemptions for Postgraduate Students. The application is subject to approval from the CUHK Graduate Division of Business Administration and the Graduate School.
Programme Background and Objectives:
In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, individuals need to continually adapt and enhance their skills to stay competitive and thrive in their careers. The proposed professional certificate programme is specially designed to help participants to transform their career and revolutionize how they work. Participants will quickly develop MBA critical thinking, tactical behavior and innovate dynamic strategies which really work in practice. This is the knowledge that will immediately benefit their personal and professional development, as well as improve their performance in the workplace.
Programme Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course, participants will:

Programme Curriculum

High Performance Leadership (1 unit)
This module helps participants discover how they may most effectively influence others and create an environment that fosters high performance. Through this module, participants will learn behaviors that accelerate high performance, how to better leverage positive attributes of a work environment, and techniques to build performance into your organizations, and organizational success

Emerging Tech & Business Innovation (1 unit)
This module aims to equip participants with an understanding of how technology is driving business innovation. It covers technology’s impacts on industries and nations, patterns of technological change, disruptive innovations-what they are, how they impact firms and industry change as well as how to deal with the response of firms to disruptive innovations, including the changing basis of competition in markets. It covers how startups as well as large companies approach innovation and the challenges they face in continuing to innovate while also needing to focus on nurturing their existing business. This module is designed for professionals to acquire entrepreneurial, innovative and agile mindset as well as capabilities as their ultimate source of competitive advantage in the rapidly-evolving digital era.
Finance for Senior Managers (1 unit)
Exploring the diverse financial challenges facing today’s decision-makers, this module is a comprehensive introduction to accounting and financial analysis. It aims to give participants who are not financial specialists an understanding of the financial consequences of strategic decisions and to equip them with tools to integrate the financial implications into their decision-making. This module is designed to embrace participants’ skills in communicating effectively with finance and accounting professionals to ensure the organization’s functions are better integrated, and subsequently boosting the company overall value.
Design Thinking: From Design Thinking to Agile Product Development (I) (1 unit)
This module allows participants to acquire hands-on experience by going through a Design Thinking process: from empathizing the user experience to defining users’ needs, generating alternative ideas building and testing prototypes, finally arriving at a feasible solution ready for implementation. Throughout these different stages, Agile Product Development will be integrated into the design process for producing quantifiable metrics to steer product market fit. Design thinking focuses on a deep dive into the user experience to identify the right problems to address, whereas agile product development approach the latter focuses on generating quantifiable measures to help prioritize the allocation of resources for implementation.
Design Thinking: From Design Thinking to Agile Product Development (II) * (1 unit)
The module will explore how integration between Design Thinking and Agile methodologies may maximize the effectiveness of product development processes. Participants will gain hands-on experience in applying Design Thinking principles, starting from empathizing with the user experience and progressing through the stages of defining user needs, generating alternative ideas, building and testing prototypes, and ultimately arriving at feasible solutions ready for implementation. An innovative aspect of this module is its incorporation of Agile Product Development alongside Design Thinking. By combining these two approaches, participants will unlock even more promising outcomes. * Pre-requisite module: Design Thinking: From Design Thinking to Agile Product Development (I)
Transforming Customer Experiences (1 unit)
In this module we shall explore how superior customer service can differentiate your business in the marketplace. Organizations are finding that if they enhance the customer experience, a relationship can form between the customer and the organization. Sustaining this relationship over time leads to customer satisfaction and loyalty, which enhances an organization’s competitive position and increases its profitability. Through case studies, class discussions, and presentations, participants will gain a firm understanding of the key decision variables required to successfully adopt and use this methodology in B2C, B2B and B2B2C environments.
Practicing Positive Communication (1 unit)
The module focuses on developing strategies and effective communication skills to foster positive interactions and relationships in personal and professional settings. Participants will explore various techniques and principles that promote clarity, empathy, active listening, and constructive dialogue. Through interactive exercises and practical examples, participants will enhance their ability to communicate positively, leading to improved understanding, collaboration, and overall interpersonal effectiveness.
Innovative Leadership (1 unit)
The module provides an in-depth exploration of key concepts, strategies, and best practices in innovation leadership. Participants will delve into selected topics that are critical for leading innovation initiatives within organizations. Through a combination of theoretical frameworks, case studies, and practical applications, participants will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to foster a culture of innovation, drive organizational change, and lead successful innovation projects.
