Dr. Johnny Wan is an honorary institute fellow in the Asia Pacific Institute of Business at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and a management consultant with over 25 years in various management positions in academic, public and commercial sectors.
Dr. Wan is keen on formulation and implementation of people development strategies, business model, talent management and leadership development. He is also a seasoned trainer on coaching, strategic mindset and interpersonal skills. He has a strong passion for people development and is dedicated to promoting balanced work-life and healthy lifestyle through participation in various sports and social services.
Dr. Wan began his academic career at CUHK in January 1993 and became Associate Professor in management in January 1996, teaching and conducting research in global strategies. His research has been published in journals such as Strategic Management Journal and Journal of World Business. In December 1998, Dr. Wan joined the Government of HKSAR as Superintendent of Police (Training) and was involved in the establishment of Hong Kong Police College. In March 2007, he accepted another challenge of being Director of Learning & Development in Hong Kong Disneyland, responsible for learning programs and talent development with respect to Disney standards. In August 2009, Dr. Wan returned to CUHK, taking the position of Director of Industry Liaison in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, for a contract of three years with a focus on the teaching hotel project. In August 2012, he started his consulting business and in June 2014 he was appointed as Professional Consultant in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management on a fractional basis.
Since starting his consulting career in August 2012, Dr. Wan has provided consultancy service and learning programs for organizations such as Dragon Airlines, Wyeth Nutrition, Hong Kong Housing Authority, MTRC, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, MBA & EMBA of CUHK, Hong Kong Council of Social Service, Asia Association of Management Organizations Conference 2013, and Bank of China (Macau).
Dr. Wan is a Certified Management Consultant, a Fellow member in the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management, a practitioner in MBTI and NLP, and a trainer in Enneagram and Coaching with Empathy. He is also an Honorary Advisor for Hong Kong Police College and a registered mountain craft coach with Hong Kong Mountaineering Union.
