About the Speaker :
Dr Alan Cheung is the Chief Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies division at ASTRI. He leads the division in driving ASTRI’s initiatives, particularly in FinTech and Smart City, through Generative AI, multimedia data analytics, Federated Learning, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and privacy-enhancing applications. The division has won numerous local and overseas innovation awards, including the Hong Kong ICT Awards, Asia FinTech Award, and the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. Dr Cheung’s collaboration partners comprise both the public and private sectors. They include government departments and regulators such as the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, as well as financial institutions and corporations. He also contributes to the community through various volunteer roles, such as member of the Standing Committee on Technological Developments of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD). Dr Cheung has over 25 years of rich R&D and management experience. He previously worked for Sun Microsystems (Oracle) and ATI Technologies (AMD) in California, the United States (US). He holds an Engineering Doctorate degree from the City University of Hong Kong, a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. He is also the owner of multiple US patents.
